My Story

Artists create for a variety of reasons. Some of these would include the demonstration of the virtuosity of technique or technical skill within a particular media or genre.

Others may be motivated by religious conviction or reverence for nature. While my motivation for creating has elements of the aforementioned, it’s eclectic in regard to the various subjects I’ve chosen to depict.

My work is representational, with influences ranging from Winslow Homer, and Charles White, to John William Waterhouse.
I, compositionally focused on themes of nostalgia, or the life and culture of those depicted.

I paint with acrylics, oils, and watercolor. Irrespective of painting media, my palette is a balance of warm and cool colors. I seek to harmonize and integrate color by exploring the analogous range. I regard this decision as a natural progression from the vividness of my youthful Pop Art sensibilities. Using watercolor, I employ a transparent use of the media. My compositions rely on symmetry between foreground and background space, within the context of a focal point, usually the figure. In doing so, the viewer witnesses a holistic perspective, whereas details support a personal journey, based on the assessment of technical prowess and an aesthetically pleasing painterly style that implores, rather than compels.
